Trainee Coaches

At CiK, we know there will be trainee coaches who have relevant qualifications and experience coming out of their ears!

However, for various reasons, it’s more complicated for CiK to accept applications from coaches who do not hold one of our accepted coaching qualifications or accreditations.

So, we’ve designed a suitability review process.

To cover administration and reviewer costs, the fee is £80.

The CiK Suitability Review

Please only apply if you can meet the following (half of the fee is non-refundable even if Stage 1 is not accepted):

  • You are currently on a coach training programme that includes both theory and practice
  • You have mentoring or supervision built in to your programme or accessed with another credible provider
  • You have experience of working in education or with children and young people

Stage 1:

Each application will be appraised including reviewing the coach training programme, other relevant qualifications, educational experience and also contacting referees.

[If the reviewer is not satisfied that the coach is right for CiK at Stage 1, a partial refund of £40 will be provided to the coach and they will be invited to reapply on qualification.]

Stage 2:

If the reviewer is happy with the outcome of Stage 1, a Zoom interview will be arranged (15-30 minutes) with a reviewer.

The outcome of Stage 2 will either be:

  1. The coach can join CiK and offer pro bono coaching to children, young people and school staff via the platform.
  2. The coach can join CiK but only offer pro bono coaching to school staff via the platform until qualified.

Please note: trainee coaches are not permitted to charge fees to CiK schools and joining the platform is not a guarantee of pro bono coaching clients. The coach will need to market their services to individual schools to secure contracts of work.
